Mass Intentions

Offering the Holy Sacrifice for the living and the dead

A Mass intention is a request that a particular Mass be offered for a specific person or need. When you request one, the priest offers that Mass for the intention you name, and the grace of the Holy Sacrifice is applied to it.

People most often request a Mass for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. A Mass may also be offered for a loved one who is ill, in thanksgiving for a blessing received, for a birthday or anniversary, or for any special need. There is no greater gift the Church can give than to offer the Mass for someone you love.

When requesting a Mass it is customary to make a small offering, traditionally called a stipend. It is not a payment for the Mass, which can never be bought or sold, but a way of supporting the Church and her priests, and no one is ever turned away for lack of one. You may offer no stipend, a standard $10 stipend, or a stipend of any amount of your choosing.

First Friday Masses for the Faithful Departed

Beginning in March 2027, the Mass on the first Friday of each month will be offered for the deceased loved ones of our parish. Anyone may add the names of their departed family and friends to that Mass, and there is no limit to the number of intentions: as many people as wish to remember someone may do so.
