Mission Renewal

Archbishop Sample has asked every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Portland to take part in Mission Renewal — a call to respond more faithfully to Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples”: renewing and uniting our priests, strengthening Catholic education and faith formation, and renewing our parishes in evangelization and care for the poor.

You do not have to do everything. Begin with one prayer, one sacrifice, and one work of mercy.

What we are asked to do

• Pray the Mission Renewal Prayer daily — the prayer is below, and cards are available at the church
• Enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus in your home
• Practice the First Friday devotion
• Offer a personal sacrifice — a Holy Hour, the Rosary, fasting, or an act of penance
• Perform the spiritual and corporal works of mercy — especially in service to the poor and the suffering
